Ok I've searched and havent really found everything I wanted to know. Anyone have any other sites with pics or even other Mazda mods? What kind of rad do I have to get? How will my speedo connect? Will I have to cut firewall or tranny tunnel without a bodydrop? Has anyone used the stock shifter on an auto chevy trans? I'd like to get everything together before I start. Thanks any links would be awesome

its pretty hard to find a lot of info since there are so many different ways to do things. You will have to cut the firewall because of the distributor on the back of the SBC. I'm sure any stock Chevy close to the same size will fit with some newly fabbed brackets. I haven't even looked at the speedometer yet on my 302 swap, not even close to ready.

you do not have to cut the firewall unless you use a large type distributor, even then it would only be the pinch.....but.....i highly recommend that you do go into the firewalland set your engine back a few inches ,this will give you better clearance ath the front of the motor and give you more options for external engine component configuration.it will also help with hood clearance .it will also give you more room for that 3" blowwer belt (ha haaaa!!!!). check out "plane jane" here on ssm.

checkout the pics in my profile there should be few to give you an idea of how it will sit in there. i'm bodydropped to the pinch moulding the engine sits under the 2600i hood with an inch clearance. theirs a pic of the sectioned oil pan, the motors pushed into the firewall about an inch and a half. if you need more info just ask.

Thanks for everything, but what radiator can I use to cool off my 305 or maybe even a 350 in the future, if it makes any difference. Also is an adapter made for my speedo cable to connect?

You can simply go to a radiator shop with your Mazda radiator and tell them you have 350 horse SBC. They should know what they need to make. Other option is to measure the rad your self and look for a simular size that is hade for a SBC. Speedway sumit jegs becool or whatever. I think the speedo is going to be trial and error. Most people go to after market gauges. Sorry for the book!
