Is the flywheel supposed to hang off the sides of the lower block? Also, the crank sensor doesnt look like it will fit. Will it fit or do I need a different one? The truck was orig. a automatic that we are switching to manual. 92 Dodge Dakota 3.9

The flywheel will hang down below the block ears. Make sure you are using a V6 flywheel, not a V8 or the truck will never run. You will need a crank sensor for a manual trans, they are shorter.

Thanks, I called Autozone and they told me the manual crank sensor was longer. I knew that didnt sound right. So the v6 flywheel is what I need. The fact that the tranny came from a v8 shoulnt matter right.

Yep, they are different lengths, get one for a manual and you will be fine. The tranny from the V8 will work and its actually a stronger tranny tham the V6 one, so you are in good shape there. The V6 flywheel will have 6 nothces in it for the crank sensor to pick up. There will be 3 sets of 2. Where as the V8 flywheel has 8 evenly spaced notches.
