shaved rear steps on OBS c1500

im about to shave my rear steps this weekend trying to get the truck painted by Spring Bash in April. I need some help on knowing exactly where to cut off the factory step and how to place the shaved kit on exactly. the directions that came with the kit are useless, IMO. thanks for the help.

i find it hard to believe no one on here has shaved steps. come on guys. help me out here.
