Has anyone used or tried to use airbags out of a 18 wheeler. I have some kicking around i was thinking about putting them on my chevy. I think it would work in the rear but i have doubts about the front.

There are 2 different styles of airbags that are most commonly used. The convoluted style and the sleeve style.

The convoluted bag, by design, has a high spring rate and has a fast rising rate (as the suspension is collapsed, the bag gets stiffer.) They are typically used in high weight carrying applications. ie. Front suspension, leveraged on link bars, heavy trailers.

The sleeve style bag is, by design, a lower spring weight and does not have a very fast rising spring rate (as the suspension is collapsed, the spring rate does not get much stiffer, but it does.) They are most commonly used directly over the axle for a good ride, but not as high of a weight carrying capacity. The sleeve bags that you do see on rigs are quite large.

Before I go any further, let me explain how spring rate works. A spring with a 100 lb. spring rate takes 100 lbs to compress the spring one inch, then another 100 lbs to collapse the spring another inch. So 500 lbs would collapse the spring 5 inches. Got it?

Okay, there is no reason why you couldn

In case Max got to technical for you. To big of an air bag = poor handling, and a ride so soft you will get sea sick.
