I'm putting a rebuilt head on my 89' 2200. Should I use the old cam that has over 200,000 miles on it or should I get a new one? If I get a new one I would like to get a performance one with new lifters. I have seen in minitruckin' where some had a delta cam in their truck. What was part number if anyone knows or where I should go to buy one. Delta cam's website didn't seem to help much. Who else has a different cam in their truck? Who has replaced their cam? What should I look out for. Any help or direction would be greatly considered.

I would ask for a split duration cam (different durations on the intake and exhaust).

You'll be able to build more power by having slightly more exhaust duration than intake. I would go with a grind that has about 10-12% more exhaust duration and no more than 275 duration after that you start having longevity problems. You can drop me a post on my site if you want a long discussion or opinion on camshafts but definatly atleast install a new one.
