seting distributer to #1 cylinder

i need to know how to line up the distributer to the #1 cylinder on an 1989 5.0 efi motor? or anything else ignition related?
AND ANYBODY GOT SPARE PARTS LAY AROUND?

Put the piston in the #1 cylinder at TDC(top dead center) and make sure the rotor on the distributor points to where the #1 sparkplug wire would hook up when you drop it in and you should be good.

if you look on the top of the cap there's a #1 stamped on it. so as long as the rotor points to the #1 it should drop right in?

It wont "drop" right in because of the gear on the end of the disty and the cam. When you put the disty in, the rotor will turn because of both gears meshing together. Make sure when you put it in that the rotor moves and points to the #1 spark plug wire and you should be good to go.
