I just bought a 94 Lexus GS 300...and I am having problems installing an aftermarket radio.....it seems that nobody makes a harness to fit this car.....i really dont want to hack into the factory harness....does anyone even know where the factory amp is in these cars.......any help would be greatly appreciated......i am tired of listening to just the radio.....

I WORK AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND I CALLED LEXUS. THEY CAN'T TELL BY THERE PICS WHERE IT IS.ALSO HE SAID A LOCAL STEREO SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET YOU ONE.

thats hard to believe seeing that the car is very popular.I have a mercedes e420 and it used a volkswagon 88 - up harness. check around it probably uses a toyota harness.

I tried toyota harnesses......I even called 2 place that make harnesses...Scoche and Metra.....and they said oh we make a dash kit for it....but no harness....your going to have to hard wire it.........so I went to 4 local stereo shops and none of them will touch it........but thanks for the help guys.......oh yeah......they sold me a toyota amp intergration harness.....but it doesnt work......and I also found the factory amp.......its in the trunk on the passenger side.....i went to a mechanic shop...and he printed me the wiring diagram....

ifs it a bose system then the harnesses wont really help and you will have to do an amp bypass...i would just find your constant, ign and ground up front and tag the speakers at the kick panel and the rear deck lid..

I used to do stereo and I would charge like 500 just to put a deck in one, it is that much of an ass sucking pain. Of course that was back when they didnt even make a kit for one and you had to make it yourself.

It is a total rewire, there is no interface, or rather there didnt used to be. And as far as the car being "popular", it wasnt a popular car till they got old enough and cheap enough for the upside down tennis cap ballers to afford them. I did three, 2 LS400's (same problem stereo) and one GS300, all for street pharmacists. One of the LS400's was barney frickin purple I shit you not. Had 20" Niche Bahns on it, to tell you how long ago it was.

Any way, my point was: It IS hard. Likely no one with a Best Buy stereo install education could even attempt it..

haha i could! lol i worked at best buy! lol but i also worked at sound advice and circuit too... like i said you should be able to find all the speaker wires in the kick panel for the front and the rest in the rear... just gotta look for it or you cant get it all from the factory amp. like he ^ said its a pain but its the only way and if it has a sub (factory) that cant be connected to the the after market radio.unless you use a amp to push it(not the factory). anywhoo wish ya luck
