Got my shaved handle kit today. And was wondering what gauge sheet metal works best ? I plan on doing my fuel door as well will the same gauge metal be fine for both areas ?

try to use around the same size as the cars original sheetmetal, like 16 ga

16 ga is way to heavy makes it easy to warp panels 20 ga will work fine the body is not 16 ga

I agree, both 18 or 20 are fine. But on the "works best" part - just take your time with welding/grinding, make sure your cooling it as soon as it feels hot to touch... Even after your done welding you can put uneeded warping in your doors when your grinding your welds smooth if you let it get hot - Watch that welding and friction heat. I tape an airchuck to my welding tip so I can just tack/cool until its all filled in. Then I grind like I weld, a little spot at a time and cool. Have fun man.
