Which buffing compunds are ya'll using just cleared my truck and gonna wet sand wit 1200 grit, just curious on how you all are laying it down slick when it comes to the clear, and what products you all have luck with, I have only used finessee 3m on fiberglass gelcoats so any help is appreciated!

depends on the clear, some clear coats are harder than others when dry...i would recomend flat blocking with 1500 instead of the 1200, then work your way up with 2000. 3M makes a trizac 3000grit sand paper to use on a D.A. sander with a soft interface pad....and like buddy said before the imperial compound is the best! also depends on what kind of pad wool pads create more swirels....

i use the meguiars w9000 & w8000 pads on the hook it backing. depends on how good you are at buffing w/o burning through, but i usually just use meguiars unigrit 1200 & that's it. i never go all the way down to 2000 unless it's a black car or some other very dark color. also i didn't like the trizac especially on the da because one time i got a tiny piece of sonething under it & put a nice "phone cord" down a bedside. had to sand down SO much clear i was worried about burning through & never used it again. i do everything by sponge now.
good luck...
