What is a good ignition setup to run if I want all new parts? I don't know anything hardly about ignition systems. But, would I get a Coil/Distributor/Ignition Box, everything or what? Do I need an ignition box, or would it help anything? I see people add them as an upgrade, but is that only with a larger motor?

i would just use MSD coil, rotor, button, plug wires, platinum plugs. no need for nothin more on a stock motor.

thanks guys. I think I am going to try and clean up the stocker and paint it. put in new points and all until I really NEED a full new distributor. It worked and well before I pulled the motor, so it shouldn't be too hard of a job. Maybe I can do that once the motor is in this weekend (I hope)

if you got the cash, jump for a MSD dizzy.

I don't have cash for that quite yet I don't think, but I will look into it. I think I will try to get it running first, as it has been forever and as long as it turns over and doesn't kill everyone in sight, I will be a happy camber. I will deffinately upgrade the insides with newer stuff, as well as the coil.

You can always just swap in the Duraspark II ignition. Its what was stock on late seventies fords. You can check out fordtrucks.com and search for Duraspark II ignition swap. There should be lots of info on there for the swap. Good luck

yeah id go with the dura spark, and add a msd or accel or one of those aftermarket control boxes. you buy cheap ones at autozone, but the duraspark dist is fine, we use em on the cheap race 302-351's that push cars into the low 11's

I went ahead and got the ACCELL points eliminator kit, and will be swapping out the coil to match.

The stock dizzy actually cleaned up real well and will be getting some spray paint for now. Thanks guys.
