I am running a wire 16 ft from battery to back of blazer to compressor and viair pressure switch which want 30 amp fuse each. Can I put 30 amp fuse at battery and run one wire 16 ft.and connect both of these items to the one wire and what gauge should the 16 ft wire be,8 or 10 ?

GO TO A WELDING SUPPLY STORE AND GET 8 GUAGE WELDING LEAD WIRE...ITS DIRT CHEEP AT WELDING STORES AND VERY GOOD QUAILTY WIRE!

your pressure switch pulls 30 amps of current? you mean it's rated at 30 amps of current. I'm guessing it's the one with the built in relay?

Your compressor should be connected to the relay, wether that's built into your pressure switch or not. Then the power wire feeding the relay should be fused.

Run the 8 gauge, or you could honestly run 10 guauge if you only have one compressor which pulls 30 amps. Run the 8 or 10 gauge from the battery, directly to an inline fuse holder with a 30 amp fuse in it, then run it straight back to the relay.

yes pres switch has built in relay and they have a 30 amp fuse in power wire,I,m told the fuse should be close to battery

10 ga is rated at 35 amps and 8 ga is rated at 50 amps. Personally I would run 8 in case I changed compressors dowm the road.

you are correct the fuse should be as close as possible to the battery. However if your relay already has a 30 amp fuse built into it's own power wire, leave it and run one up by the battery, you would have two fuses but it won't hurt anything at all.

Also Marty is correct, if you plan on running a different compressor in the future or even an additional compressor I would run 8 gauge back.
