um, i have done both, heres what i think
towing aired up gives it more play and lets it have an effect on the smoothness of the ride causing it to rock the truck because of the suspension travel. but it will not ever fuck your rockers up from having it take the impact of bumps and things in the road.
towing aired out looks great but can affect the truck on the trailer, however imo it rides better on the trailer laid out but the force applied to the truck and trailer when u hit a bump or a rough road could cause body damage to the truck you are towing.
now i tow my toyota with it laid out on 2x4 pieces, i mounted 3 pieces of 2x4 the width of the frame on the trailer, and lay the truck out on those, thus not letting the body hit the trailer or come in contact with anything of force or that could cause damage, this is the best of both worlds for me, laid out so there is no suspension movement to pull the truck around but not putting a load on the doors because its not touching. so this works for me, hope this helps. oh be sure to tie down from the frame and not suspension if you do it my way because if you dont it will just slam around like normal but if its not hitting the body it dont matter but hey, everyone has a way of doing it.
