Hey madlowmazda, looking aweseome. question: how do you use the stock mazda distributer location with the 12valve head? did you get a hole machined in it or something?

its a 12 valve 1.8l out of a RWD japanese market Mazda Bongo van. Not to be confused with the FWD 2.0 or 2.2l 12 valve engines used in 626 and Probes.

Yes Russ is right-

The distributor location is a function/ feature of the bongo engine only- making it very unique for us mazda guys! The cylinder head will bolt right onto our engine blocks with absolutely no complications at all! And the stock mazda distributor slides right in! Amazing isn't it?

Once I get my noisy power steering pump placed into the trash and off the truck- I'll tke some vid and sound of the truck runnning and driving- it's really nice sounding. Russ- this thing will definately be a screamer with this turbo- I am very excited about this one!

With my other truck- I'm going to try ITB"s again with the fe3- just for fun- I've got it running so strong right now- I think I can battle the tuning with those things and nail it this time- I think n/a will be the way to go on that truck for now- because any more power and it would be time to start breaking things I'm afraid. Those Itb's sounded way cool on that engine too-

hoenstly, how much of a pain int he ass is it to set up a megasquirt injection system. im considering running ITBs on my isuzu. I like the inginuity, as well as the added hood clearance, and im sure the performance wouldnt be bad either. i googled megasquirt before, but im not sure what i would need.

Russ- would you like to answer this or should I?

lol!

Megasquirt is the solution to fuel injection in a modified vehicle I beleive, period.

It is affordable, simple and reliable. It is also unique, and upgradable.

Go to msefi.com and read through it- it's a really comprehensive page and will explain everything you will need to know.

It's silly to waste time with weber carbs or stock fuel injection with megasquirt!

So, based on your research is that the best turbo to use on this motor that you have found. I need to put a different one on my truck and I may just go that route. All the guys on the mx6.com forum seem to swear by the Subaru turbo's but I'd rather use a garret for ease of acquiring and maintaining it.

I am using this turbo becuase I acquired it- I did not research for a particular size- but I did know about what size I wanted. This turbo was custom put together, and came with the exhaust manifold already modifyed and ready to go. It was made for a mazda truck, by a mazda enthusiast and a turbo guy. It is actually probably a little too big for the engine- but I like that- more boost the better. I wanted to use a wastegate actuator on the exhaust housing too- to make install simple- and this one has that too.
