ok i have a mazda b2200 and i would like to run a chrome chevy alternator on it. i know i will have to modify the brackets and so on, just wanna know if i should get a 1 wire or a 3 wire, i don't know what the difference is between them. What one will work better with my truck? any help would be awesome, thanks

well im not sure so dont quote me on this but i believe that one of the wires is for the choke on our trucks or atleast one of the wires on my alternator is going to the ckoke. but you can wire it up to any 12 volt source activated by the ignition to eliminate that wire on the alt.

A one wire alternator eliminates every wire but the one that just goes to the battery...these alternators have to have a rev to like 2000 rpm to trigger them to start charging that battery and thats the only draw back and then just put your alternator light wire off a post of the alternator..some cases it will have two hidden post under a rubber grommet that you can still hook up auxilary stuff, even though all it really needs is the main wire to battery

so i would basically be better off with the 3 wire so it will charge while its idling???
