I've gone through 2 driveline in the last 2 months. carrier bearing keeps going out. I have a 4-link.2 bars forward, triangle bars to the rear. bags over the axle. The rear end seems to have alot of movement when it travels up and down. have had other trucks that are bagged and never had this problem.

2 bars forward, triangle bars to the rear.

there you go, the answer was in there already. Can't set a 4 link up that way and not have pinion change. Even with bag over axle.

Move the gas tank, flip those rear bars to the front, and (after setting it up correctly) enjoy the savings on driveline parts.

I've done setups on toyotas with all the bars to the back. wouldn't that work on the mazda?

no, it doesnt work at all even if it "worked for you"

the problem with reverse setups is the link setup arc is opposite of the driveline arc, so if you have a carrier bearing it will not like getting pushed and pulled around. You also create a situation where the steering forces are transmitted to the end of the chassis instead of close to the center of gravity and can whip turn. And reverse setups are not good for roll steer either according to BioMax.

Better to just flip em forward, you cant get very long lower bars with the gas tank in the stock location anyway, and longer bars help both the truck ride and the essential function of a 4 link, to follow the driveline arc.

ok. so ill redo the 4link setup. what should the angle be and were on the rear end do i take a reading from?

the 4 link is wrong and your pinion angle is off

the rear is set at -2 degrees, and there is a flat ridge next to the input shaft that you can place an angle finder.

this -2 pinion angle when is this measured? standard ride height? and also i was wondering could you not just weld on all the 4 link bars while the leaf springs are still attached that way nothing would move and would be the same, or is something in the way while trying to do this?

yes you can . i did it on my taco and it worked fine. i have a reverse cantaliever 4 link from cando specialties and it rides great no problems at all and its been bagged for a while now . i did check to see if the pinion angle was at 2 and it drives great.
