ok im gettin ready to build the back half of my ranger. i plan of running 2x3 under the cab to get rid of the c stock. what i would like to know is when i body drop it do i need to take the motor out...it a 97 std cab long bed. thanx for any input. im sure i will find out when i get there but i guess it better to know as much as you can a head of time..

All depends how far you would like to go with the 2X3. You can goto the firewall and not have to touch the engine area. Good luck and those trucks are bada$$ layed out. Have one in my profile.

you have to z the frame an inch in teh front so it will lay.it will be ALOT easier if you pull it all apart and flip the frame over to weldeverything up.

do i need to z the frame or is that just to get the front to lay out

well if your going to back half it you might as well stock floor bd it and z it all at the same time....save your self time down the road, thats what i would do. Are you going to shorten the frame or keep it a long bed?

on an ibeam w/ 2x3 under the cab yes, cuz were the trans crossmember is, the frame slopes down 3/4 of an inch. when you make it all flat the engine xmember hits first.
