I just bought this blazer and the molding around the windows appears rough? Anyone know if i can paint this...and how to prep it..since its a plastic. What actual grit#s ect.

Keep in mind i'm a beginner and only prime/paint zinc/epoxy/paint trailers at work.

But have always wanted to work ina bodyshop.

Heres a pic.

You could scuff it with gray scothbrite, mask your edges off with some paper. Then use a trim black aerosol can for paint.

So. Just scuff down the rough spots?
Could i paint it with the same paint I'm going to use on the rest of the body. I wasn't sure if it would appear dull or fade out or bleed through.

If your going to do that I would wet sand with like 320 or 400 use a plastic adhesion promoter then prime the panel. Wet sand then paint them with the vehicle.

Hey man, Thanks. I was hoping that was the way to do it.

No problem as long as you get the edges good it shouldnt peel on you at all.

I have the same problem on my Intrepid. I tried just scuffing and rattle canning, but it just didn't hold. Going all the way would just be the right way to do it. Might as well start the project doing everything the right way. I always feel too many people start something half assed and that's what it looks like when they've finished. Not implying at all that this was your motive.

use SEM trim black. over plastic adhesion promotor of course, works great. and is durable.
