sleeve bags on the bars

i bought some sleeve bags awhile back and was wondering if they would survive if mounted on the lower bars???? anybody tried this?

they need to be mounted pretty much straight up and down.

straight and i think you have to have lift and drop bump stops

i've heard you have to limit how far they go, but i also thought they have a fairly low weight rating.

They need to be up and down. Get a set of limiting straps for them too. The ones I've seen have a 10psi minimum, so bumpstops are a great idea. I think they would be destroyed real fast if they were on the bars, they'd roll over sideways. They ride really good though even in a traditional setup, because of that limited weight rating. Definitely run them on a smaller mini truck. Think my brothers are rated at like 900lbs each?

There isn't any reason why you can't run the bag on the bar, but you do need to make sure that the bag is as close to the rearend as you can get it.

The mechanical limitations of the sleve bag, compared to the double convoluted bags is about half. A sleve bag can be angled as much as 15 deg (top to bottom mount) and 1/2" off center from each other. To be safe, just squeeze the bag while partially inflated and make sure that you can't feel the lower mount rubbing on the inside of the bag.

As for travel limiters, If you make sure that the bag will never botom completely out on itself (ie. make sure the rearend hits the frame first) and use a shock that slightly limits the travel at full lift, there should be no issues of mechanically destroying the bag.

I was looking at the firestone design guide yesterday after i saw this thread. Strangely enough it said 30 degrees for both types of bags. But I just cant see that working with a sleeve bag and having it still fold over itself with no rubbing.

Yeah, I have the same book, but I'm not comfortable with that either. I use the "feel" method, just to make ME feel good.

i think i'll cut my plates with holes for both the sleeves and some 2600's and go with whatever rides better
