Where is the best place to buy shocks for a bagged truck and what is the usual price range? They will be for an 81 c10. Thanks for any help.

monroes work very very good for me. i use hardbodys on the rear.

if you wanna get fancy you can get pro shocks from speedwaymotors.com, but the monroe gas matics from your chain parts stores work fine and are cheap...... i usually install the fronts and rears for like a 75-ish c10...

Dude! Are you guys serious?!?!

Somebody make this a sticky...

If you want a really nice shock that come in several different lengths and several different valve rates call Steve Duck at RCD Classics (619) 328-5401. That is what Steve does, he sells shocks. He can sell you a nice part for your application and if it is too soft or too stiff, you can get different valve rates to tune the ride.

Yeah but what kind of prices are we talking about? I mean it would be great to have custom made shocks but is it worth the price? Just wondering.

I use hardbody shocks on my toyota. I've looked through the catalog for monroe shocks and they offer the most travel out of any other monroe shock that i saw. And they were like 19 bucks a piece

I'm not talking about custom made shocks. This guy supplies Bilstein shocks that come in several different sizes and valve rates. They are "off the shelf" parts tht don't belong to a specific vehicle. Just tell him what you are doing, your confines, what kind of driving you do and how you want it to ride and he can sell you a part that is pretty close to what you would need. And considering the cost of all the other parts on your suspension they are no at all over priced. I think you should be able to get a pair of shocks for about $200. If that is too much money for a good ride, then maybe you should think about how much you are willing to spend on wheels, just for the look. I have used them on every suspension that I have built in the last year or so and have been VERY happy... So has the customer.

I can totally understand not wanting or needing to pay that much for shocks, but I still think that there should be a sticky for parts and where ya'll get them. I see that same shock, bag and heim questions being asked on almost a weekly basis.

On my old yota i had gas fullsize truck shocks in the back and gas VW bug shocks in the front. To this day it still rides better than it did when it was stock and im only in all FOUR shocks like 80 bucks.

And i agree with Max, make these kind of threads stickies!
