sectioned crossmember

I know i am beating this like a dead horse but i can't stop thinkin about it untill i figure it out so sorry if i'm drivin you guys nuts! well here goes....on an 80 c-10 to lay rocker you can z the frame 2 1/2" right? Now if you want it to lay rocker you can section the front crossmember up to 1 1/2"(i read that on here) but how will both of them work.....i mean there is a one inch difference between the two??I have a spare crossmember so i was thinkin bout trying to section it but what else must be done to make it work.i was lookin at mine and it looks to me like if u section it and raise it up the bolts on the side of the crossmember won't line up....or am i just lookin at it in the wrong way?sorry guys but this is just drivin me nuts

you dont have to section the crossmember if you do a 2 1/2 z. or you can buy the crossmember already made from www.porterbiltstreetrods.com

Yea i knew tat you don't have to section it if u Z the frame....I was just trying to figure out if it would lay with a sectioned crosmember...a stock style crossmember
