Motor for 94 escort

I've got a 95 with a 1.9 5 spd. in it for sale. Whole car, inspected w/emissions & everything for $650. Comes w/an extra new clutch and an extra new starter too (Clutch in it is weak but its good enough for a daily and starter has a dead spot but I'm just waiting till it goes for good to change it). I've just given it a fresh tune up w/plugs, wires, air filter, oil change, new IACV (still doesn't work quite right, not sure why), Coolant temp sensor, and a coolant temp switch (fan won't kick on but hasn't overheated, I think relay is bad). Let me know.

I am just looking for a motor. I think its a 1.9 but I can't pop the hood right now until I break into it and get the keys out. But I think it is a 1.9 , are there other motors that will fit it too?

Still looking for one. Theres multiple at the local scrap yards but theres no way to tell if they are any good. Its a 1.9 SEFI out of an 94 ford escort. I believe 93-96 will fit in here.

Isn't there certain Mazda models that had the same engines? If there is it could broaden your search a little.

Any truth to this? And how would this efect my states inspections? 94 so it would just need to pass safety. Should be ok right?

What about a mercury? The body looks just like the escorts.

Anybody know what else might work in the car? Like I said above the local junk yards have them but hard to tell if there any good.
