I have a major tick in the engine when I start it up. After it gets warm it seems to go away but will go in and out while driving. I pulled the oil filler cap and I can feel air pushing out of the engine. Any help? I can't afford to have this thing crap on me.

Is your oil full? When mine ticks worse than normal its low about 1.5-2 quarts. How major is major?

Ive had three 2600's and they have all ticked. The one i'am currently drivin is a fresh rebuild motor an it also ticks. What i have found that helps is a quart of lucas oil stabilizer everytime you change the oil. Or chng to a heavier weight oil.

HLA's, very common. I usually throw a quart of atf in the engine (in place of 1 quart of oil) and drive it a few thousand miles, then change the oil. The detergent in the atf really cleans the engine and emulsifies the varnish buildup, which is usually why lifters stick.

You can do the same thing with seafoam, or any other kerosene oil thinner, but its dangerous to drive on thin oil and you may dislodge large glops and plug your oiling system. I prefer the atf. And before yo worry about it, atf is just super concentrated detergent motor oil.
