Smells like burning

My girlfriends 97 tacoma started to smell like something was burning last night. I know the previous owner just had the charcoal canister resting in the engine bay and 2 of the hoses dont lead to anything and one of the wires is cut. Will the truck run fine if I take it out all together? Because I just shoved it somewhere temporarily to prevent it from falling back down onto the road.

It only started smelling last night for some reason. and she said when she left here it looked like a little smoke was coming out from under the bed?

Smell like oil getting onto the y pipe? Check the oil filter to see if its loose or not, just a guess. and make sure that wire don't go anywhere, especially if its a hot, tape it up good and zip tie it somewhere.

Whats up the the charcoal on the engine?
