i got the 2 480's and when i first installed them, it sounded great...but then, about a week ago, i noticed that is sounded like only on of them was working...so i go to the bed where the compressors are installed, and i noticed no noise comming from one of my compressors...so i did a slap check on it, and it started to make a grinding noise...hmmm...so i let it go for about a day and then i opened up the bed when both compressors where running and i noticed that the one that was making the grinding noise was shaking violently ....i know this isnt right, but does anyone have any idean on what the problem might be? AND other than buying another compressor, is there a solution to the problem? thanks in advance...

Hmmm..when I had my 480 it did something similar to what yours is doing & the sleeve that was around the piston itself was worn out, but it sounds like it could have water in it causing it to shake so violently. When of the guys in my club had water get in his & it did what your is doing. You can take them apart & youll find out more then, but if it is still under warranty then hell send them back from where you got it. Hope this helps, but there are alot more guys on here that know more than I do so Im sure more info
will be posted soon.

IF ITS UNDER WARRENTY, HELL YEAH!!! SEND IT BACK, BUT MAKE SURE YOUR RECEIPT SHOWS YOU PURCHASED A PRESSURE SWITCH WITH THE COMPRESSORS. VIAIR ALWAYS QUESTIONS IF YOURE RUNNING A PRESSURE SWITCH OR NOT EVEN WITH A 200PSI COMPRESSOR LIKE YOUR 480'S. GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!

If i do take it apart, does that void my warrenty? I would love to fix it myself, but i guess i could just send it back...i will contact them by the end of the week, i have finals starting today so my nose will be in dem books...

Don't take the unit apart, unless its over a year old. If you do, the warranty will be invalid. We use the unit itself to determine the reason why unit is having problems. If you remove the evidence of what's going on with it, we won't be able to determine what caused the issue in the first place. To send the unit back for inspection, call (949) 582-6868 and ask for Lance (that's me) and I'll ask you to fax a copy of your receipt to (949) 582-6866. Then, I'll issue you an RGA number so we can receive the unit for inspection. If it has failed under our One Year Manufacurer's Defect Warranty, and not out of abuse or neglect - the unit will be repaired or replaced and sent back to you. If the unit was abused and/or neglected, we will let you know the cost of repairs and will make the needed repairs for the cost of parts only (in many instances).

Hope this helps!
