i have a 2 piece driveshaft right now but i keep wearing out carrier bearings... it's had 3 in the last 5 years. Would i benefit from going with a one piece driveshaft? What are the pros and cons? I figure the reason the carrier bearing keeps going is probably due to the pinion angles not being right but......... anyways, any help would be great. Thanks! Oh yeah, does anyone know where to get carrier bearings with grease fittings? Thanks again.

BTW... it is bagged and lays frame......

I would work on getting your suspension set up proper. If you're going through carrier bearings now, with a one piece you'll probably go through U Joints and/or tranny rear seals.

Is your carrier bearing shimmed? One piece driveshafts are nice but usually not needed. I switch to one piece one my hardbody but I also run an IRS so there is no driveline movement. with a onepiece you will have to cut the back of your cab even more.

would shimming it help? I would love to do the IRS in the back but i'm probably gonna get it all primered up and sell it... i have other interest at this time. But i'd like to figure out how to fix the problem before i sell it. Thanks

yeah shimming helps. you can use washers or a piece of tubing. your gonna have to get longer bolts. start by shimming it 1/2 inch, that usually plenty.

a guy at work mentioned shimming but i didn't believe him cause he not part of our lifestyle. Thanks man, i'll try that.

yeah let me know how that works out for you.

Hey if you decide to sell hit me up. I am kinda in the market for a semi daily. something to drive/ drag around while I work on getting my top secret project started and going.

For anyone else reading you can use a one piece driveshaft on the regular cab trucks but the extended cabs are too long and it is not recommended.

woops, wrong thread, i guess this is the right one to post in lol
i too have an issue where the rear output shaft seal was mashed in a matter of days...at full lift the driveshaft pulls out, when laid out the shaft is forced all the way in (or it might be vice versa), could it be that the pinion angle issues? Im thinking the differential was welded in place at a wrong angle. I have a 2 piece driveline, what can i do to correct this issue? switch to a 1 piece? And if so from what vehicle? Id hate to have $parky ripped apart when she was just completed a few weeks ago. Any Help is greatly apprecitated.
