ok, i yanked my abs and am putting in a proportion valve, i also took out my safety airbags a long time ago. My question is can i cut these wires from the harness? Or is there something in them that will jack my shit up if i cut. Is there a ground or something that will mess up my truck? I just want to cut them close to the main harness to clean it up a bit.

NO don't cut the wires. just tuck them up under you dash. i was told a long time ago not to cut the wires by the guy that owned the drop shop. he said that it has something to do with the amps going throught the wires and it mess with the computer in the truck and will not let it run. good luck hope this helps

ok, cool, thanks for the tip. i thought something like that, but i did'nt know for sure. When i put in the carbed 350, i can cut them, though, right?

when you put in a carbd 350 you dont even need them wires when i did mine i bought a new wiring harness to get rid of all that bull i got the harness from painlesswiring.com because for a carbd 350 you only need 3 or 4 wires

ernie, how much was that? Was it the whole wiring harness? i heard you can just hardwire the gauges, and that's pretty much all you need to do, you can leave the rest of it (headlights, tail lights, stereo, etc.)

it is the whole harness fuse box and everything and all the wires come labled every 4 inches or so it was like 140 shipped and it was cake to put in.. and for the gauges it all depends on what you use for the new 350 if you keep your gauges you will have to get a new tranny with a electric speedo and then you have to get electrical senders for the engine and then get the diagram for the gauge cluster for your truck and splice the new senders in to the old wires.

i'm planning on using auto meter or the like gauges.

yea then i would recomend that harness because you cant use your computer with the 350 then the gauges you get should come with senders i would suggest a set of vdo gauges they are real nice and on the cheaper side.

i body dropped an s-10 on 22's and removed all the airbag, abs, a/c and heater wires all the way back to the computer and relay box and it runs just fine. no check engines light, no abs or airbag light either. i also sectioned or extended almost every wire in truck to move all electrical in cab and had no problems. besides the numerous hours it took to do it.

ernie, i know you can't use the computer. that's why i don't want to spend a lot of time relocating it right now, cause it's gonna be tossed eventually. ford, thanks for the info, i'm still not sure if i'm gonna do it or not. i'm for sure not bd'ing it, that's the only thing i'm sending to a shop for, i'll let them deal with it, lol.
