alright i just got my old truck back...and the motor was previously rebuilt and my dad and brother but it in but it aint running right...it doesn't have any power...4th gear doin like 30....got any pointers on what to do...so far been told check the vaccum hoses

Make sure the timing isn't really far off???

Look for vaccum leaks, adjust carb a little?
Mazda's are slow as a Yugo with a miss anyway, but 30 mph in 4th gear sounds like something is way off.

one of my friends said it could be the clutch aint right....everythin one the clutch is new except for the slave cylinder...???....

my truck just did that same thing
i changed the timing belt thinking it was off timing... nope
so i had it compression tested today..
and the 4th cylinder... the valve went thru the piston...
check it out...
get a compression test..

I dunno but everyone says to change BOTH master and slave so you might need to be a bit more thourogh with the clutch... No leaks or anything!?!

smell anything burning if the clutch was slipping then you should smell it burning

do you have a catalytic converter on this truck?? If so, does the exhaust smell funny or sound/feel restricted. Have you driven it long enough to tell if the piping is getting pretty hot prior to the cat?? Sounds like this could be a catalytic converter partially clogged. Is it misfiring?? Have you performed a compression check on the cylinders?? If there is a misfire also double check spark and fuel delivery. It is near impossible to diagnose a problem to a vehicle over the phone or internet. If you do not have the equipment, I would suggest taking it to the best tech in your town. He should lead you in the right direction w/o having to spend lots of money trying to fix something he doesn't know how to diagnose properly like most tech's out there do. We call them parts changers. I hope this helps some. Sorry I couldn't help more.
