i have a 93 mazda truck with a wore out busted ass motor w/ 256,000 some odd hard miles on it and i only get 14mpg. so what i am wondering is if i rebuid it will it improve, how much, and should i just put like a 34/36 webber & headder or leave it stock? its my daily work truck but if i keep it im gonna bag this one also...

I'm not so sure about the 93 but i had a 86 that had all the emision stuff on it. The truck was from cali so i'm not sure if it even had more then normal. Anyways i ripped all of it off when i bagged the truck cause it was a mess and in the way. After that i went from like 30 mpg to like 12mpg. I was told after ripping it all out the sensors just let fuel dump into my carb which would've resulted in a easy way of getting a new motor. So check your emission stuff out, if you had a weber carb. on i believe it gets rid of all of it but doesnt mess the sensors up like it did with mine.

i've got a 38 38 weber, header, cam, and msd ignition. I get like about 20 mpg with smaller than stock tires, so more like 17ish. It's pretty sad considering its a 2.0, I wish i got the 32 36 progressive weber. I wish i put all that money toward a new motor, i suggest you do the same, 256k is a hell of a lot o miles.

I rebuilt mine bone stock its a 90 ext cab automatic and I get 33 mpg around town and 35-36 on the highway but I have all my smog bullshit still, The last I did I took it all off and it got like 18 mpg with a pacesetter header and volkswagen bug 2 barrel.

when i had mine, i got 20 in the city on average. and that was pushing it pretty hard (orlando traffic). I am sure cali highways are worse the orlandos also. If your not going 10-15 over on the city streets your getting the finger haha. so needless to say it saw most of its miles (when i had it) at a good rate of speed.

i would get 20 mpg or so, because I could always put 10 gallons in and run 200 miles.....gas gauge was broken. I counted on it getting 20, and filled it back up another 10 gallons. it could of gotten more for all i know.
