I am currently stock flooring a 90 toyota. I am cutting down the top of the frame and redoing all of the x-members and raising the front suspension to make the frame lay flat. I am also doing a full back half. Now the question is how much of a body drop does it take to lay door on that body style? I am going to do a traditional bd of top of the stock floor to take it on down to the doors. I am wanting to keep as much of the stock bed floor hight as posible so I am wanting to know for my bed risers so I will know how high to make them. Any one with that body style bagged and the front suspention raised and x-members if you could measure from the ground to the bottom of the door that would tell me any help would be great!!!

i have a 89 ex cab i stock floored. the frame rails are about 5in tall i dropped mine done to 2in and made all new crossmembers raised the trany and motor up 4 in to clear more road (less holes in the pans). so with the 2in rails i made my body mounts flush with the top of frame. i lay mid rocker about 1 1/2in from door with out doing anythin to the floor... not sure about the bed though i have a RX7 rear and haven`t started on the bed yet sorry. check it out i have other pics i could email them to you... let me know how it goes later

ok thanks so I think that makes it about 7in to lay door. Hopefully that is enough. If it is to much I cam shim the bed up.

I would try to make the rails 3 inches, and just lose legroom. I am guessing the rails are 5x2 or 5x2.5 stock....I wouldnt want a 2x2 rail with stock crossmembers even. go 3 inch frame height, whatever that knocks off the total height. Everyone gets scared of even 2x3 1/4 wall it seems, so I would play it safe and go 3 inches tall, not two.

I am going 3in tall I have built a few frames and they wouldnt let us go smaller than 3in tall without a roll cage at wyo tech so i never build mine any smaller than that. But also it may fly if you do another rail on the inside of the frame and make it like a k-member. And yea the frames are I think 4-3/4 x 2-1/2 stock. I also thought about it and my old 94 was only body dropped 2-1/2in and layed rocker with shaved pinch. It had raised x-members and font suspention so I guess i just need to measure from the rocker without pinch to the door and add 2-1/2 thanks guys for getting me thinking about it so I get it right!!!

yea no prob. the reason i went with 2in rails is cuz of all the other structure points that are being built. that aren`t shown on my profile. yea was also worried about the 2x2 rails but did all the math and thickness`s. yea but i agree if you can do 3in rails go for it. if not make sure you brace everything good but let me know or send some pics... later have a good one
