i have been seeing more and more of these. what do you guys think of these vehicle wraps vs. a real custom paint job?

easy way out and up close you can tell there stickers and like DROP EM WEAR said vinal belongs on your house not your ride but its up to you its your truck so your oppion is the one that matters in the end

I think they are good for race cars and stuff like that. It's a lot easier to replace vinyl when there is body damage. As far as street driven vehicles I don't like it.

i mostly see them used for advertising which i think is okay, anything related to automotive being used for advertising i think should be custom painted but i usually see a max muscle truck or like a signs n designs truck so.

just a cheaper way to get more detail. for a custom, the seam will really throw everything off. It doesn't shine the way a real paint job does and I've heard the vinyl only lasts about 5 years. but basically as you've seen with the advertising your options of what you want on you ride are limitless with the wrap

sometimes its not really all that much cheaper for a good quality full wrap job. Our demo car that we had wrapped at the stereo shop i used to work at ran us 3200. of course tsunami paid for it but its still on up there in price. But for business purposes there good b/c they can be changed out relatively easy.

I really think it's up to people, I mean not everyone can have a 40g paint job.

But you always have what you pay for... that 3g vinyl wrap around may have plenty of details but it won't be as nice as a REAL paint job done by a professionnal artist.

And yes 3200$ isn't cheap... but it's dirt cheap compared to a fullblown airbrushed painjob (wich can cost the price of a good car sometimes!)

Wraps aren't intended to replace full custom paint jobs. They are intended mainly for advertising and really for the money are an awesome piece. You get about 20,000 impressions a day with a vehicle. Spread out $3000.00 to $6000.00 over 5 to 7 years and thats not bad. The average yellow book ad runs $3000.00 a year.

my buddy owns a vinyl shop. The wraps come out pretty damn detailed and will last 6 years with no fade. because i can get one done for the cost of material im going to do my daily. But i would never do it on a show truck. up close, like a foot away you can tell its been printed, 4 feet away you can see the seams. thats the only reason really. plus its a huge short cut. to anyone thinking abotu vinyl wrapping their truck, just get it painted, it will cost 3-5 g's or more to get it done with a quality shop.
