On our Colorado I had a slip yoke put in the rear drive shaft then took all the rubber off the carier bearing and made a solid mount for the bearing. It worked great.

the std cab colorado's have a one piece shaft and they need to tunnel the cab to clear it. you'll have to cut into the cab and floor pretty good to fit a one piece shaft.

I have 85k miles on my ext cab with 3" blocks in the rear on top of the sport package and haven't had a problem with the truck at all.

get the truck up on jack stands, put the driveshaft in and see if where the carrier bearing is moves for and aft a lot. if it does, then have a drvieline place install a slip yoke on the rear shaft. may be a little spendy, but you wont have to worry about this incident again.

my cousins stock colorado did the same thing a while back. he took it back to the dealer and they replaced free of charge i believe.
