where exactly does the 12v come from for the pressure switch? ive searched everyhwere and i cant really find a straightfoward answer.

You can get it from any 12V source. It doesn't really matter. Its preference really. If you want to be able to turn the compressor on with the truck off, or only when its running.

I also always run a toggle between the pressure switch and the power source so I can manually turn it off whenever I want to.

well i want to be able to turn on the compresser with the truck off or on so could i just run it straight to the battery?

Yeah. But I would do it cleanly and run it to a constant power wire under the dash somewhere so you don't have a lot of wires going through the engine bay, and hanging off the battery.

I RUN A WIRE OFF OF A TAP ON THE ACC WIRE (USUALLY YELLOW) UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN. IT WILL OPERATE THE SAME WAY YOUR RADIO DOES (USES THE SAME WIRE)

I'd use a toggle switch either way like Seth said..

That way if an airline blows/you have a leak, your compressor won't run by itself while you're inside asleep and drain your battery..

or even if it's hooked to ACC., so your compressor isn't pulling from your battery as you're trying to start your vehicle.
