ok, i have two 3 gallon tanks and and they both have a port on each end and thats it... i was wondering how you guys set these up w/ a drain to get the water out of them? do you have to unbolt the tank and turn it on its side every time or what? i have used these for a few years now and took them off to redo the truck and there was quite a bit of rusty water in them.

just curious as to what you guys are doing.

The only thing you can do is if you have an extra port you're not using is mount the tank with that port to the bottom so it can drain. If not, you can drill a hole in the tank and weld a new bung in, making yourself a new port anywhere you want it.

provided you can weld good.

if not you just ruined 2 good tanks!

are you running a water trap? they keep most of the water out of mine.

i agree with jey welding on air tanks should be left to pros. what about running a brass tee screwed in to the tank with a plug in the left over end, and like someone else said use a small syphon hose every once in a while

if u use a water trap you shouldnt have to drain water but once a year. ive never drained a tank on any of my trucks, but i do live in the dry part of the country

i had a water trap between each compressor and its tank... but still got a little bit of water out of them... i know with my shop compressor i have to drain that thing like once a week

you'll almost always have water in your tank.

unless you're running a dryer system.

it's just like your air compressor in the shop. It pulls moisture outta the air.

That's what I'd do too
