I'm wanting to tweed my headliner, but i have never done any interior work before. So I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to prep the headliner for the tweed, what adhesive to use on the tweed or anything that I left out. Any help would be greatly appreciated

if your headliner material is still good not hanging down tweed over it. if not strip it off and start with the cardboard an add some thin foam to even it out. lay your twed out and trim to a rough size. 3M super 90 works well but a good adhesive that you spary out of a spray gun is the best choice. spray from a foot away shaking the can back and forth to make the adhesive come out thick looking like a spider web. spray both the headliner and the tweed let them set for a couple minutes then put the tweed on the headliner work from one side and apply hard pressure, tuck around the back glue the sides front ad back on the back side of the headliner and tim the excess. sometimes it is easier to glue half of the headliner and tweed at first and then the other side. good luck.

Super 90 is good but the prob with that is it is outlawed a lot of places due to the chemical makeup. The best way to spray if you can is to get a glue pot, it heats the glue and sticks better. Like Brandon said get some thin foam and lay it in there, if you want to do shapes and other things like that get some thicker foam and glue them on the thinner foam and then work the tweed around the shapes. Hope this helps.

Dont do it with the old material still on...trust me. Peel it off. If it doesnt want to come off easily, go to the local parts store or auto body supply and get some 3M adhesive remover. Spray it on as you pull it off. Scuff the surface with some scotch bright pads and spray some glue down, then lay the tweed over it and smooth it out as you go.
