My girlfriend has an '05 Cavalier, and she is going thru brake pads like they are going out of style. She has 18's on it now, but the wear is no different than when she had the stockers on it. Any one know why?, or how we can fix it?

The rotors sound warped.

how does a warped rotor eat both pads? and how do you not KNOW its warped? Sounds like she buys cheap pads, and gets what she pays for. Buy some ceramics with atleast a 2 year warranty *if not a lifetime one*.

She doesnt ride the brakes, but she does put alot of miles on it and I thought that was the problem. I think that the quality of the pads may be a likly reason,... but I put the same brand and quality pads on my Rodeo and they seem to last forever. Thanks for the advice. Anyone else have any ideas??

have you adjusted the rear brake shoes lately? cavaliers tend to need adjustments on the rear brakes frequently. although the rear brakes are less dominant for stopping, it could be causing the problem. i needed to adjust my rear brakes twice within 2 years, and never really ever touched rear brakes on any of my other cars.
