Question.....

Does a carb'd b2200 motor sit any lower than a FI motor? trying to keep the motor under the stock hood, its lowered as far as its going to go right now, and the intake is sitting about an inch too high.

Would a carb'd motor with a weber be lower and give me the room i need?

Is the valve cover high than the hood? The Mazda I worked on, the stock air cleaner looked ot be about an inch or so higher than the valve cover. I'm sure a Weber could be lower but not sure. You could probably modify the carb intake to sit lower with a Weber.

Have you seen Dinos truck? I think his rockers are shorter than yours, and hes got a weber and I don't think his motor is lowered at all. I can find out for sure though.

The intake is the only thing sitting to high... probably by an inch or so.

My motor is lowered about 1.5" i believe.

Yeah he's got a lot less rocker than I do, i've cut the inner structure out of the hood as well, its close, but not close enuff. I think carb'd might be the way to go... just want to be sure.

The carb motor has a little more clearance on the intake side than the EFI engine does. I believe its in the neighborhood of about 3/4 of an inch or so. We have a 2 1/4 bd Mazda in my club with a carbed engine and it clears the hood with trimmed hood braces and stock position mounts for the engine. We also have a fuelie Mazda with the same bd and it needed trimmed hood braces and the engine mounts lowered 3/4 of an inch to clear the hood. As a side note for anyone looking to drop their motor beyond about 3/4 you will need to modify your center link for the steering. There is a sticky in the Toyota section that details how to acomplish this. It is also necessary to notch the under engine x member for clearance when you drop the motor, the notch you will need will be the amount you lower the engine minus about 1/4 inch. You could build a custom upper intake plenum for the efi motor to get its profile down some. There was an article that ran in an issue of Street Trucks a while back where Bio built a pair of low profile upper plenums for a tacoma and a T100. You could probably hit up Max on here for some of the details on that process.Hope this helps you out.

I haven't read all the posts and think your question has already been answered but on my last truck with the body at stock level I was able to fit a 1.5" spacer under the weber and use the 2 5/8" filter element and it barely hit the bottom of the hood. Fit just fine after I made a relief cut in the reinforcement right above it and smoothed it out with a hammer, that section can also be cut out. The non 4x4 hood on the B2600s already has a clearance spot made into the hood even though it doesn't have the bubble. So I would think that with a weber or holley 5200 setup you could body drop it about 2" without clearance problems using the shorter air filter and spacer plate provided with the kit.
