cheapo alarmo

i live in the city that has the highest car theft. There have been 3 cars in my area that have been stolen. this makes me paranoid. I see these ads for a 89 dollar alarm installed. is this even worth it? what kind of alarm is not insaly priced that is decent?

LO JACK??? you pay for what you get, try to get as many security measures as possible to slow them down.
-mount an extra siren underneath the dash so that it sucks as trying to hot wire.
-get the device that locks your brake in place
-starter kill
-sensors for glass breakage
-removable steering wheel from grant


its like everyone if they want your ride, they'll get it.

is it a pain in the ass to install an alarm yourself? or is it just better to have a shop do it? i am trying to stay as cheap as possible. The truck originally had an alarm. the wiring is still there

i think, like Wiley said, you get what you pay for. if its cheap it probably doesnt have much to it, which may make it easier to install. Some of them can definitely be a pain in the ass, it just depends on how many sensors you have, and where. Not sure if you can use the old wiring or not. i would probably just have someone who is experienced do it, save yourself the headache.

mine is a 90 and it was a breeze espicially because the wires i needed were already tapped from a previous alarm. I have a Ungo S670 on mine. Its a pager alarm with nothing fancy.

you have to think like a thief to outsmart one. i had a top of line viper alarm with pager and the thief still ended up stealing my taillights. If there are any loopholes the thief will find it. You can't rely on just an alarm. If the crime is that bad where you live, I would do what Wiley said and make it a lot harder for the thief to accomplish his goal.

like mentioned before, you get what you pay for...as for doing it your self, well, i am sure enough you can do it, but i would personally have a professional do it...BUT if you are going to do it your self, intergrade something that will ID the guy stealing your shit...I am personally going to get 2 nail guns from Harbor Freight and mount them underneithe the dash and wiring them up to my tanks and a pulsing relay into my alarm and have them shoot into the crotch of the seat...I guess you could do a paint ball gun too,

AND get a back up battery incase all they want to do is get your stereo and all so if they cut the battery cable, it will still run.

or get a trunk monkey...
