that looks good and all, but why not cut it at half the full angle? 45*= 22.5 on each rail.

because more welding surface = a stronger joint

too much effort for something that could be done alot easier

but it will work

drill and plugweld a few spots on it tho

allready welded, i'm gonna use some side gussets.

looks good to me just drill some holes and plugwield it,lol

just had to add that cause after the first person said it like 10 other repeated it,lol

you a buddy of mine is a weld inspector and he told me that you should only bevel 1/4 and up.he told me when i was doing mine that when you bevel less than 1/4 it is a weak weld. he is one of less than 100 people in the us that has some of the ndt certs for his field so i kinda rolled with what said.

we build all kinds of structural parts and any butt welded joint gets beveled so the weld will lay in nicely, not only is it stronger, but it looks better.....

honestly after looking at the pics, it doesnt look like he got that much more surface area than a 1/2 angle cut. but, as long as hes happy. just a whole lot easier to figure out and might even be a bit more precise to do it cutting just two angles rather than all those notches.

couldn't use a 45 angle, would interfere with the bag location and push them back too far on the bars.

not necessarily a 45, but any angle/cut in half, will get you a perfect mating surface.
