I'm relocating my gas tank to the back of the truck. Does anyone know how to extend the fuel lines?
go to your local auto parts store, find out what size fuel lines u have( most likely 1/4inch inner diameter) get a couple of hose couplings and some hose clamps and there u go, thats what i did and i dont have any problems, unless u got some hardline then its a lil more complicated then that
^^^^^^^ EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID -- DID IT TO MINE AND IT WORKS JUST FINE !!!!
i work at oreillys and that wasnt an option for me. I have a 98 and my fittings were crimped on both ends with that stupid piece of metal in the middle. I just took it down to a hose place had the metal tube taken out and just had a 4 ft piece of rubber put in its place and i used the same fittings. works fine and doesnt leak a bit. now as far as the charcoal canister i just bought some rubber line 2 diff size cause it is 2 diff size, cut all the old stuff off, extended and re routed it to where i had remounted the canister. it dont matter what kind of rubber you use for the canister its just the vapor fumes the 98 does not have a return line
i too cut the hard line and used rubber hose and never had any problems
I ran a new hose from the fuel filter back and attached the stock fittings on each end of it with hose clamps.
i did mine the same and it worked out just fine
One really should use a good fuel rated line when doing this and some SS worm drive clamps as well. When re-locating gas tank and or anything for that matter be sure you check for the travel range of other parts (Shocks,Springs, Bags, Etc.) in the area intended for the re-location. This could save you in the long run.
