Im sorta doing a low budget project right now with my 78 Chevy Silverado.I bought it for $2000 cash, its in really good shape especially for the price I paid for it. I was just planning as using it for a daily driver while i work on my s10 but the bug has bit me and I want to do a few little things to make it into a slightly customized everyday driver. I already bought diamond clear headlights and a billet grille, removed the ugly ass bedrails, removed the cattle pushers on the front bumper and it looks a lot better already. My goal by the end of the summer is to drop this truck a little, and remove all the chrome molding and fix all the body work and primer it,maybe throw on a cowl hood if i have any money left. I really want to lower it next but i dont really know the best(or cheapest way) to go about this.Im not sure if its an inch or 2 inches higher in the back stock so im not exactly what kinda drop I want to go with. Im thinking I want to go with a 6 inch drop in the rear but i dont know if I need to go with a 4 or 5 in the front,I do want it to sit level not static.I have been told that if i go with a 5 inch or more drop I need to go with a flip kit and notch the rear does this sound right?? If i go with a rear flip kit can I also use lowering blocks in the rear?? Belltech makes a 3 inch spindle and 2 inch springs but I was maybe thinking of going a cheaper route than belltech so if anyone has any suggestions or websites I should check out please let me know.A front/rear drop kit would be nice;all I have found so far is DJM 5/5 drop which would mean it would sit with the raked stance still and Im thinking I want to level it out so hopefully I can find a company that sells a kit to get the drop i want.

Unless you link and bag the rear, a flip kit is the only option u have. You will want to c-notch it or the axle will slam into the frame while hitting bumps. As for the front spindles and springs. check out godfathercustoms they r in Altana and sell chassi tech suspension, cheaper than bell tech, but good stuff. Hope this helps

Thanks man thats a good idea about checking out Godfather customs website. I figured I would have to notch it unless I only drop it a couple inches which IMO would be pointless, might as well give it a good size drop.Spindles and springs sounds like a good combo up front of course Im going to get some drop shocks as well,I want my truck to ride somewhat smooth.I just need to know how much of a drop I need because Im not sure how much higher the rear sits than the front. I know with the newer Chevys its 2 inches more in the rear but I swear it looks like it almost sits level I can tell it sits slightly higher in the rear .

With the flip kit, you usually have rear shakle brackets that have 3 diff. holes for adjustment. The flip kit will prob. give u six inches of drop in the rear.

cool,if theres 3 diff. sets of holes for adjustment then im sure I can set it up to sit level, thanks man.
