I'm hoping bio max chimes in on this one. Measuring the rear of my explorer for a 4-link and I come to the conclusion to keep my back seat I either have to

a. run a forward 4-link with only like 12" long upper bars

b. run a 2-link

c. run a reverse 4-link with like 36" long bars

I don't like any of the options what do you guy say?

generally the longer the better with the bars on a 4link. however there are several negative points with running a reverse 4 link and i personally do no like to links at all, but thats me. maybe you could consider running a wishbone style link systam and that would work out better for you

The upper wishbone would still have to be very short. None of my options are worth a crap, just trying to get an opinion on which one is the least crappy.

lift the rear floor a couple of inches, giving more room underneath and still run the rear seats just with less head room

I used to have a 66 cutlass the upper bars were only 14in form the factory i still got 12in of lift and layed the frame and never have any pinion issues. iam by no means a expert but i would rather see a 12 in long fwd 4link vs a reverse 4 link.

you can run a 12" 4-link no problem, as long as you dont run like 20 something inch lowers. keep the forward mounting of the bars in the same plane and you should be alright. be sure to set the instant center mid-motor to behind grille. the shorter the bars are the more precise it needs to be. also, have your lower bar parrallel to the ground at ride height.

to get longer bars and keep your back seat you could do it like this burban

how about a parallel link? works just as well
barsgsxr   +1y
my s10 has forward bottom bars and reveresed top bars never had any problems

back half with parallel 4 link on the outside of the frame rails.
