Well if the 550 is crapped out and can't be repaired I would order the set of 480's. I replaced my 450's with them about a month ago and I have been very pleased with them.

its no good no more dude i had one for my train horn but i had to change it out because the place where i got my horn they said i had to get a new it going to cost you more money to repair it then to get a new one better of to run a viair480

its an easy fix. I had to do it to mine too. And then i just had to order new flappers for the inside of the head cuz one snapped off. Those were like 2 bucks or somethin? It doesnt cost much at all to fix them

Happy to help, All Oiless compressors are good for about 400 hours of use that is it after this time the bearings get gulded the piston ring wears out and motor brushes wear down. Sounds to me you compressor is just warn out good news Lance at Viair (real cool guy) can get you top end and motor end rebuild kits for that compressor and get her back up and running like new Extra amp draw is the main sign of a warn compressor. Any questions please ask.Best regards,Doug---------------------------------------Sounds like the head of the compressor needs rebuilding along with the piston assembly. When the intake valve gets weak, it can cause resistance and make the compressor pull higher than normal amperage. Then again, it may also be a carbon brush problem causing the compressor to pull higher amperage due to worn carbon brushes. Compressors don
