how many miles per gallon

anybody with a 99+ silverado, how many miles per gallon do you get and what have you done to make yours better?

done nothing, i get shit mpg, like a full tank in 4 days. local driving

I have a 00 Silverado with the 4.3 and I get about 22 miles to the gallon.

oh yea mines a 5.3

I was thinking about doing a V8 conversion but with gas prices the way they are now I am kind of enjoying the 4.3 a little more.

i have a 4.8 ext cab and its running like shit right now which has made me think of getting a little honda so that i didnt have to drive it everyday. but as i thought about it more, with the money id be spending on a car, that would be plenty of fuel saving mods and gas for a while. thought id see what people thought the best fuel saving mods were.

A low stance, a bed cover, not so wide tires, a good air filter, clean fuel filter, good spark plugs/wires are all good things to help on fuel economy

Oh yeah, driving 60-65 mph is always better on gas than 70-75

I just bought an 01 2500HD with the 6.0. Lemme tell you about shitty mileage....and it's got a K&N and a few other goodies.

It also depends on the weight of the vehicule and the engine displacement, a big ass truck like that will probably never reach the "economic" status

But I thought GM garanteed all their vehicule to make 31 or more mpg... is it only on the 06 and newer??

i got a 4.8 ex cab and i get about 16-18 driving around time..ive just learn to slow down and take time....and also GM didnt guaranteed all vehicle just like 15 of them or something...but im getting a diesel and those get 20 miles to a gallon plus then you can fill half tank with diesel and then other half with brand new veggy oil from costco...its about 6 for 5 gallons.
