okay so you guys probably hate me by now for asking questions about local pricing and shit, but for the life of me noone local has 4x3 quarter wall. so whats the average going rate for this per foot? I only want like 4 or 5 feet right now. I need some cutting done, and the local does CNC work but just doesnt have what I need.

I have all my numbers for everything based on 4x3 quarter wall so i need that!

3/16 wall would work too, just want it either that or quarter wall.

you are not going to just pay by the foot. there will be charges ontop of that since you are not buying a full length. most steel places charge between $30 - $50 just to cut the size you need off of the full length and then add some on top of that. i have priced steel where it was cheaper to order a 20ft length, cut the length off i need, and throw the rest of way than it was for about 5 feet. all steel places are differnt and may or maynot charge you for certain things.

alright, cuz i know a guy out in cali bought 4 feet for 20, and that seemed real cheap to me? I was quoted 90 for 4x4 1/4 wall at a 10 foot length...

I will just call them up and see.

Also, is 2x3 vertical, strong enough for a fullsize stock floor? I had planned on 4x3 (still going to use it for the front crossmember) but would 2x3 rails and other crossmembers be solid enough?

if you need 4x3 why not just get some 2x3 and stich weld two runs together to make it 4x3? probably end up cheaper

Its generally cheaper to buy the whole stick. When I buy the 1" round for my bikes, its $20 for a 21-22 foot stick, or $30 for half of it.

You should try a welding shop or a trailer building place. They ussually have tons of scrap laying around. I've bought stuff like that for a couple bucks before. You can also hit the scrap yard. You would be surprised at what you can find.

here they charge 5 bucks for a cut charge.... pay by the foot and 5 bucks if you need some cut off.

only like that on tubing and flat bar though, not on sheets of material

try onlinemetals.com they seem to be fairly reasonable for small quantities but i don't know what they charge for shipping.

just check with some fab shops, we have lots of drop from jobs, you cant always order exactly the amount of metal you need, so sometimes you end up with pieces 1-5ft long.....
