if its a 98 then you have a-arms not ibeam which makes it a lot easier simple cup s/u up front

Yup, 98 was the first year the Ranger came with the a-arm suspension instead of the I-beams and that is a great thing for you. You will need DJM upper and lower a-arms. They seem to work better with bags then most other lowering control arms. Also if you'll want to "Z" the frame right in front of the firewall. If you just want to lay rocker it should be 2.25" body drop. You'll also have to lose the AC and move your bottom fender mount.

Since you have a 4 banger I believe all you have to do is move the throttle body some and you can run an Edge hood or lower the engine a little and you could even run a STOCK hood. This only works if your going to body drop it 2.25" though. I have a V6 and had to lower my engine 2" just to be able to run an Edge hood. So you got the right year Ranger and the easier engine.

He sounded unsure of the year so its probably not a 98. I would think he knew if it had beams or not at least.

if you do have beams you'll have to notch the passenger side beam to clear the oil pan (at least we had to on mine with 20s)i hear you can run dream beams and they'll clear but i have regular drop i-beams...also we had to cut a lot of the bracket that the beams mount to so they would go up far enough, bend the driver side tierod to clear pitman arm and notch the frame for the tierods

i have a traditional body dropped ranger it had no leg room no head room it was like being inside a dog house. i would think about doing a stock floor

whats up Brian ( we met in Greenville 2 yrs ago, you shot our black s-10 behind Kmart). Anyway, dont even consider traditional on this one. That frame is huge...a stock floor is alot easier.

actually if you z it, you get a less of a body drop then with a stock floor...

you only need a 2.5 inch traditional body drop to lay rocker..head room sux in a ranger with stock seats and rails but its easy to change that stuff around to make up for what you lost in the b/d

you can run a stock hood with a 4banger without moving the motor...you have to modify where the cruise control and throttle cable mounts and notch the back bracing of the hood....thats all we had to do and we did mine 2.5 inches...and of course toss the ac and heater and change the brake booster/ master cylinder. another problem we had was the bottom radiator hose hit the tierod on the passenger side, but im changing the motor now anyways
