the other day i was driving down the road and my truck started blowing white steam through the exhaust. so much that it covered VERY thickly and went over 4 lanes. i have removed the head thinking it was a blown head gasket however the gasket appears to be intact.

1) is it possible for a gasket to fail and visually look ok?

2) what other problems maight it be? cracked block

cracked head, crakced water jacket in the head or block, bad head gasket, bad intake manifold gasket.

is there a way of checking for cracks in the head or block visually?

reguarding the head gasket it self it visually looks good, could it still be bad?

You should always pressure test a motor before you take it apart.

Right now you have no idea what

found out the intake manifold gasket was shredded. after i put it all back together the motor turns over and runs but still leaks water from the intake manifold area. right now i have pulled the manifold again and am replacing the gasket on the bottom side that leads into the water jacket in the manifold.

the water is leaking from under cyl3 and i know there is no water in that area except from the water jacket, and its sealed there except from the bottom side. has anyone else had problems similar to this???

thanx

You could give the LC Engineering help line a call and see if they maybe have some info to pass along to you. I had to call them about some parts interchange and availability related stuff and the guy I talked to was really helpful. Didn't make me feel like a jerk for not knowing and gave me a mini R series crash course while he was at it. I would happily deal with them again in the future. Give it a shot, maybe they have the answer you seek.

Pull the engine out and use it as a boat anchor , i hate my 22r , if i had the money i'd have something else in there!!!!!!

in between the 2nd and 3rd intake ports there is a peice that bolts directly to the head that has vacuum lines coming out of the top and a metal coolant pipe running to the bottom side of it. does anyone know what this?? this seems to be the place that i am leaking from now.

any ideas as to what these peices are/lead to. i have a chiltons manual but it has nothing in there about it.

thanx
