ok so i have a 99 ranger rc, and i just may have a good deal on a 91 fuel injected 351. my questions are as follows..... first can i carburate that motor? will explorer v-8 motor mounts and oil pan fit? can i only run a certain type of headers? any other problems that i should consider or be addressed would be super. thanks guys.

351's are garbage go buy a 5.4L =D~

You might be able to adapt the mounts, but the oil pan no. Im also pretty sure you can buy an intake for it, but I would leave the fuel injection on it.

youd have to switch out the intake like jason said, but the mounts should prolly work. hedman makes a nice header that would help ya as well! itd be sweet done!

is there an oil pan that will clear everything on the ranger that will work on that motor?

You can get a raised oil pan for them. I'm not sure how much clearance the make but I was looking into them before I changed motors. I have a 351 thats carburated that I need to sell. It needs to be rebuilt but ran when pulled out.

On our drag truck we used an oil pan off of a mid-80's ford van, notched the firewall, removed the exterior heater and air-conditioner. We were also able to use the van motor mounts because they sat 1 1/2 inch lower in the crossmember than the original motor mounts. The motor was a 351 windsor though.

i just really am concerned to know if it will fit like a 302. everyone has told me the block is the same size. but there was a few guys that have said they are different and would be alot more work without a lot more pay off, and to just do a 302.

The main issue was the heads and valve covers. Also the brake lines coming out of the brake master cylinder must be moved to the drivers side to allow for more room, also the tranny tunnel will need some persuasion with a hammer. The main question is how much horsepower you want, and what your going to do with the truck. If you want good power and a great trottle response, go with the 302. If you want raw freakin' horsepower go with the 351.

see i dont want anything crazy and i dont wanna have to mod too much. but if we are talking about just the tranny tunnel and some brake lines, that aint nothing. also what headers and oil pan does everyone use?
