Tie Rod Question...

I've heard of Mazda Tie-rods fitting into Yota drop spindles, i just wanted someone to tell me whether it can be done, before i actually buy all these parts new. Or will the taper not fit? Thanks.

I believe the taper is different on the Toyota tie rod end. I will check when I'm at the shop today and post back. You could always have the Toyota spindle filled and re drilled to the factory Mazda taper though. This would be cleaner than trying to adapt the Mazda inner to the Toyota outer. It would be cleaner looking in the end anyways.

Hey man, I looked into the taper question taday when I was at the shop and the Mazda outer is a smaller taper than the Toyota outer tie rod end. The Toyota tie rods are male and the Mazdas are female which yould make mating the evisting inner to a Toyota outer tricky. You could fill and drill the Toyotas to match the Mazda taper of have some adapters machined up to mate the two ends together with the adjustment shaft. Any local machine shop could probably handle either choice if you don't have the capebilities or equipment to do it yourself. Hope this helps you out a bit, let us know what you wind up doing. L8

Yea, Will have to see... I thought i seen someone on here said they had no problem with using a mazda inner and toyota outer. Im not sure though. Time will tell...anyone else? Bump.

you can use the stock mazda ball joints and tierod ends. They worked for me using 85 yota spindles, hubs, rotors, and bearings. I did not have to notch anything and i am bodydropped on 18's

Cool...I wasnt 100% sure about that, Im not using stock Mazda arms though, Im waiting for the Cando's (mazda to yota) and then using a yota 2" drop spindle, and everything else is Yota. just wasnt sure about the taper for the yota spindle, i heard they were different. thanks tho...& Im rollin' 20"s in the spring.
