Hey guys, the previous owner of my truck did a hackjob torsion bar style bag bracket on the front of my 2000 silverado... Long story short.. they pretty much tore off, taking the frame with it. i have since cut the old brackets off, smooth and welded the hole up, then plated over it with steel. turned out really good. The plan is to now run cups which i recieved today. (KP Components) Ive been reading up that the factory coil pockets have been known to pull away from the frame also in rare cases. Most say to gusset the hell out of them, but none show how they have done it. Before i put the truck back on the road i want to know it is worry free. How have you gusseted and supported the factory coil pockets?? pictures would be awsome. thanks guys

hey, i just did an 02 silverado, im assuming the frame is the same as the 2000. if it is, there should be no need to gusset the coil pocket. i had to trim a little off the bottom of the pocket to get my cup to fit, but not enough to affect the structural integrity of it. you should be fine man. if you feel better gusseting it, go for it, better safe than sorry. in my own opinion though, not necessary

ya man,ive thought about just letting it be. Mine has a small amount chopped off the bottom just like the one you did. I just dont want anything to go wrong again ya know. Ive been replacing the hackjobs the guys before me did. Started with the 2 link to KP 6 link swap. then the air setup completely. and i never thought the front would be needed.... until it tore the frame. I dont want to worry about anything on it. i have even thought of just plating the top of the coil pocket with 1/4 steel, to add some regidity to it so there is no flexing going on. Maybe that will be enough.
thanks for the opinion

do you have any pictures of the 6 link installed? i made a wishbone for the one im doing and it works great so far. didnt want to go fuel cell, but didnt want a parallel 4, and most definitely didnt want bag over axle. ill try and get some pictures of it tonight, it turned out bitchin

heres one of the truck, ill have to get a better one of the wishbone. still have to tub the firewall to get the front to lay out (its about 1 1/2" short of laying right now), and the rear wheel is just sitting in there, the axle is out as we are narrowing it 2 inches per side.... but its coming along, should be complete this weekend
