NEED early Trans. gasket!!!

I need a gasket for my transmission, ASAP. Its a rubber or plastic gasket, about 5/16-3/8" thick that goes between the shift lever retainer, and where that mounts on the tail shaft extension. Here is the breakdown, highlighted is the gasket I need.


Its for a 1980 Toyota W50 5-speed transmission. It has 4 bolt holes. If anyone has a spare one, can find a new one, or has any suggestions please let me know. My truck is down ATM until I get this resolved.

seth go buy some gasket cork at your local auto parts store. just tell them you need a roll of gasket cork and you can cut you own. they will also have gasket paper but i favor the cork. it seems to seal better.

Not thick enough or hard enough. Its not really a gasket, its more of a plastic spacer. Mine has turned into 4 or 5 pieces. I have gasket paper to make the gasket that goes on either side, just need the spacer I guess.

Have you checked with LC engineering? They were the only ppl that I could find to help me when I needed a front sump R series oil pan for my Hilux. Be worth a shot if you haven't tried already.

I'll give them a shot tomorrow when they open. I kind of doubt it since they only offer transmission parts for the model after mine, but I'll still ask.

seth why dont you mill one out on a bridgeport? i think you have access at school yes?

They shut down the machine shop last semester. I think after this semester if they don't find a teacher they are going to be selling the equipment.

I think my friend found one though. Hes sending it to me today.
